“Local food at international station - Farmers’ market to open in St Pancras”

29th July 2009

Sourced Market St Pancras

St Pancras International station will host a farmers’ market from September.

Travellers will be able to pick up sustainable and seasonal produce along with their season ticket at the Sourced Market, located in the main concourse.

A dedicated website will be set up so commuters can pre-order food from their office and pick it up on their way home.

Some of the suppliers are based within walking distance of the station, including Stewed, which sells gourmet stews and is based in Holloway, and Hoxton Beach, which specialises in falafel and vegan Lebanese food.

Packaging will be kept to a minimum and be 100 percent recyclable, Sourced co-founder Ben O’Brien said: “We are so excited to be opening in the heart of the capital.”

The London Paper sponsored a Sourced market at Lovebox in Victoria Park this month.

The St Pancras Market opens in September, 7.30-9.30pm weekdays, 8am-8pm Saturdays, 9am-7pm Sunday

“Guilt-Free Gourmet”

29th July 2009

Sourced Market St Pancras

We love it when culinary delights and environmental consciousness collide. So we’re really looking forward to a new daily market called Sourced, which will be at London’s St Pancras Station from September 7, offering tasty artisanal fare. You’ll find it opposite the UK ticket office and Starbucks, at Street level. Think Monmouth coffee, Flour Power City breads and Neil’s Yard Dairy cheeses, along with seafood, free-range meats, salads, pastas and pies, all sourced in and around London. This is guilt-free food and drink that’s utterly irresistible. Yum yum.

“Sourced Market to open its first fixed site at St Pancras”

Sourced Market St Pancras

Sourced Market – an ethical, high-quality food market created to improve the offer at festivals and events – is to take up its first permanent home at London’s St Pancras International station in September.

It was created in 2007 by festival fans Ben O’Brien and Tim Harvey – who became disenchanted by the food provided at shows – to promote fresh, seasonal, healthy and, where possible, locally-sourced produce.

Since its successful debut at the Innocent Village Fête in Regent’s Park, Sourced Market has travelled around the country, setting up unique markets of all sizes at such events as Lovebox and The Big Chill.

“For a while now, we have wanted to bring all the benefits of a great produce market to London’s busy commuters, seven days a week,” said O’Brien. “The station in turn wanted a genuine and independent produce market with great food and knowledgeable and passionate staff – exactly what Sourced Market is all about.”

The fixed St Pancras site – which will be located opposite the ticket office and local Starbucks at street level – will be designed by interior designer Shan Clarkson, who was responsible for such iconic venues as the Bloomsbury Ballroom, the Atlantic Bar & Grill and Denim.

Packaging will be minimal, recyclable and preferably made from recycled or sustainable sources.

The often award-winning food on offer will include wines and beers, cheeses from Neal's Yard Dairy, sustainably-sourced fish and seafood from Looe in Cornwall, free-range meats from Jody Scheckter’s biodynamic Laverstoke Park Farm, and freshly-baked breads and pastries from Flour Power City and Flour Station.

The market will also feature a deli offering a new menu each day of salads, fresh pasta, pies, patés and cooked dishes.

A dedicated website, Collect & Go, will allow customers to pre-order food for collection on their way home from the market, which will open seven days a week.
